Stop another high-rise building displacing families and local businesses in Koreatown
Vukota Capital Management (VCM), a multi hundred million dollar company, based in Nassau, Bahamas, has just purchased 698 Irolo St. and is planning a 150+ unit apartment and commercial high rise building in the heart of historic Koreatown.
This will displace several families and local mom and pop stores that have been there nearly 30 years. There will be years of noise and disruptions due to the construction for our local community as well as an extreme impact on traffic and congestion both during construction and after completion.
VCM’s website proposes that out of the 157 apartments only 18 will be available as “affordable housing” which barely meets the city’s new minimum requirement. They also brag about “having no height restriction, and no concessions required from the planning board”.
It’s time to start paying attention to how the “Opportunity Zone” process is managed.
Please help in sending a firm message to local government to moderate this and other similar developments.
